BRAZILIAN SOCIETY OF HEMATOLOGY AND HEMOTHERAPY   

Founded in May 26, 1950 at the 1st Brazilian Congress for Hematology and Hemotherapy, the SBHH is a scientific based, cultural, social, non-commercial and non-profit private association that represents and unifies physicians and other related professionals involved in hematologic and hemotherapic activities. The SBHH is afilliated to AMB (Brazilian Medical Association) and its major initiatives is to stimulate the development and improvement of Hematology and Hemotherapy in Brazil.

Publications

Hematology and Hemotherapy Brazilian Magazine (RBHH - Revista Brasileira de Hematologia e Hemoterapia)
The number one published in September, 1973 under the title "Boletim da Sociedade Brasileira de Hematologia e Hemoterapia (Brazilian Society on Hematology and Hemotherapy Bulletin)". In 1999 was totally restructured and then became the "Revista Brasileira de Hematologia e Hemoterapia (Hematology and Hemotherapy Brazilian Magazine)". Trimestral, with portuguese, english and spanish articles. Now fully indexed on LILACS - Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde, SciELO – Scientific Electronic Library Online, Extramed and on CAPES, by Qualis System.

Hematology and Hemotherapy Legislation Collection
Group of federal normative documents that rules on Hematology and Hemotherapy procedures. Regularly updated. Available in CD-ROM. This collection quickly clears any doubt in legal issues regarding these specialties.

SBHH Informs
formerly called "Hemonews", this journal publishes news directly from the board of directors and other information in the field of Hematology and Hemotherapy.

Services

Legal Advisory
The SBHH offers free legal advice for all members, to help on hematologists, hemotherapists and related services to clear doubts on civil responsibility.
This service does not act in the judicial system, yet it keeps an updated quantity of jurisprudence and doctrine material. This can help our members best interests' in a legal defense.

External Immunohematology Quality Control Programs
There are 2 Programs, the Conventional and the Referential. The Referential Program focus on larger and more complex services with testing of special samples. Both programs were designed according to international quality standards.

Library
Created in September, 2001, the “Pedro Clovis Junqueira Library” has the mission to spread national and international scientific information about Hematology and Hemotherapy. This Library is actually subscribed to various specialized periodic publications. Library hours: Monday - Friday 9 AM to 5 PM.

Certifications
Hematology and Hemotherapy Specialist Certification
In order to become certified by the SBHH and AMB you must meet the academic requirements, and then successfully complete a certification examination. The certification examinations are administered on the Hematology and Hemotherapy Congress. The certificate is issued by the AMB.

Technical Proficiency Certificate
This is for the health care professionals that has specifics duties in Hematology and Hemotherapy. Until now professionals are certified in Sorology, Immunotherapy and Laboratorial Hematology. To become certified, an individual must fulfill the academic and experience/training components specified in the Procedures for Examination and Certification and successfully complete the appropriate examination on the Hematology and Hemotherapy Congress.
